3rd Annual Max and Jake's Big Race

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 3rd Annual Max and Jake’s Big Race! Despite having rain the day and night before the race, the sun was out and the course we used was dry, scenic and safe. With several hundred runners and their families, our friends, and dozens of volunteers, we really had a special day out at Mission Trails.
As of March 5, we grossed over $32,000 from the Big Race. The proceeds after expenses will be doubled thanks to Ledcor Construction and go toward the new pediatric MRI center Rady Children's is building.

They all received new Asics running shoes courtesy of Asics. Derek Togerson of NBC San Diego came out as our MC and did an amazing job for us. In addition to calling the race, he helped us give away thousands of dollars worth of raffle prizes such as an in-home wine tasting from PRP International, a hotel stay from the Sophia Hotel, portrait packages from Renaissance Portraits, gift certificates from Road Runner Sports, and much more! Thank you again to our sponsors.
The atmosphere in the expo area was festive thanks to live music by Rhiannon and the Galaxy. Both performers were awesome! Rhiannon delivered a soulful performance (clips can be found on YouTube). The Galaxy – a group of 5th graders who attend Max’s school – wowed the crowd with their original song (and soon-to-be chart topper) “Max and Jake.”
Race photos and a moving video are now available from Darin Fong Photography. Darin is a good friend and a talented wedding and portrait photographer, and we’re so thankful that he came out to capture the race.
